The abyss and the wind (2012, still in progress)
Meyer presents a series of large format photomontages. These compositions, in which fantasy plays with realism in the bullring – the theatre of the ruedo, offer a singular, poetic vision of the strange magic and power that inhabit the universe of the corrida. The series, whose mysterious title is “L’abyme et le vent” (The abyss and the wind) and in which the astonishing performance of José Tomas in Nimes holds a special place, proposes a fresh perspective, a perspective that associates emotion with history and advances with elegance and passion onto the delicate terrain on which the corrida is presented.
This series has just become part of the collections of the Musée de la photographie / Centre d’art contemporain of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
