Ring road (Paris, France, 1994)
As opposed to the usual image of the Paris périphérique – a constant flow of noisy cars packed together – the night photographs taken by Patrick Tournebœuf offer a silent and contemplative vision of the most famous boulevard in the City of Light. Bridges, interchanges, exit ramps: by focussing on the architecture of different structures along the périphérique, this work emphasizes its sheer monumentality.
