Indonesia, On the Aceh road, 5 years after the tsunami – 2009
    For TIME Magazine

The Aceh Province in Indonesia, was the hardest hit by the tsunami on December, 26th, 2004. The United States offered to build a new road in this devastated region. Five years later, the construction is still not finished. This project does not correspond with the real needs of the population. The story of the reconstruction of Aceh illustrates the inefficiency of humanitarian aid, which is also a problem in Haïti. Do these projects, which begin with an outburst of solidarity channelled through international aid agencies, really correspond with the social, economic and political realities of these devastated countries ?
