The blood of China / Bertrand Meunier

 

In the early 1990’s the healthcare authorities of Henan (a densely populated rural province in the centre of China) talked the poorest peasants into selling their blood in order to supplement their incomes.

The blood collecting was done without the least bit of medical hygiene which led to the rapid spreading of hepatitis and AIDS…
