Wuhan Art Museum

Exhibition by Bertrand Meunier

“Photocopied architecture” is the term often used when referring to urbanism in China. All the towns look alike and nothing enables one to distinguish one from the other. The same generic model is to be found everywhere.

The city of Wuhan is a gigantic construction site. Identical urban objects are scattered haphazardly everywhere amidst the last vestiges of the past, of a history no one takes any notice of anymore. The architecture resembles a forceps delivery, the doubtful manifesto of the number one economy of the world.
