Caty Jan’s work explores the different stages in life. Her first series was based on the subject of giving birth in several maternity hospitals in Paris, a research project she continued in hospitals in Cuba. Then her series “Apprentissage” (“Apprenticeship”), portrays apprentice factory workers, and is illustrative of the passage into adulthood. In her final series entitled “Ad vitam aeternam” she evokes death (burial ceremonies). She also directs her work towards the world of women in which sensuality and grace abound: inside a Cuban cabaret, a Parisian hammam or in the backstage of the Crazy Horse.
